Before Big Time Rush, Kendall had his own band called Heffron Drive, along with his friend Dustin Belt, both originally from Kansas.
When the Nickelodeon project and the band started, they decided to pause their band.
Once the group was put on a hiatus, they took up on making music as Heffron Drive and released an album on 2014, titled Happy Mistakes.
Later, on 2015 they would put out another album called Happy Mistakes: Unplugged, including acoustic versions of the songs on their previous album along with new songs.
From 2016 to 2018, they also released an EP called Slow Motion and several singles, as Rain Don’t Come, Hot Summer and Black on Black, making that last one into their most recent production.
